As bloggers, we spend a lot of time creating awesome content. But you can’t just publish a blog post and then sit back to wait for the traffic to come to you. If you want to be successful, you must actively share your blog content and get it in front of as many people as possible. This means posting it to social media sites and promoting your work in as many places as you can. I’m afraid that having a“build it and they will come” attitude just won’t do in 2017!

Let’s start with the biggest and most popular social media platform of them all. As a minimum, you should use it to share your latest blog posts. In addition, I would recommend creating additional posts where you share other relevant content such as quotes, infographics, useful links, etc.
To be effective, make sure each post has an eye-catching image and a solid call-to-action. For example, you might increase engagement by telling people to ‘like,’ comment on and share the post. Facebook can be a tough nut to crack, and especially so when it comes to achieving good ‘reach’ – but focus on engagement and the results can really blow you away.
As long as you have a decent number of followers, Twitter is great for sending an instant surge of traffic to your blog posts. You should share a new post two or three times in 24 hours. Be sure to include a few relevant hashtags (but don’t go overboard), and write your Tweet carefully so that people have an idea of what your blog post is actually about.
In addition, you can use Twitter to share other people’s content and engage with your audience. Sharing and retweeting stuff posted by other bloggers will encourage them to share your content and help you reach a bigger audience.
Google+ is often overlooked – but it’s actually the perfect way to connect with like-minded people. To get the most out of Google+, be sure to include some hashtags and a solid call-to-action with each piece of content you share. In addition, make sure that share visibility is set to “public” so that it can be seen by anyone and shared across Google’s various services. I love Google+, and it’s a real shame that more people don’t use it effectively!
Pinterest is a popular social media platform that helps people discover interesting content and find inspirational ideas for everyday life, making it a hugely powerful place to share your blog content.
By posting relevant, eye-catching images and then linking to your blog post, you can bring new readers to your blog and reach new audiences. Pinterest is all about images, so be sure to pin high-quality images that are specifically optimized for Pinterest. Use relevant hashtags to help people find your posts and then pin them to relevant boards in your niche.
If you’re not using Instagram, you’re really missing out. Although Instagram is especially good for bloggers who have a lot of impressive visual content to share(e.g. travel, fashion and lifestyle bloggers), it can be used effectively in most niches.
Success with Instagram is all about sharing beautiful, high-quality photos and including plenty of relevant hashtags to help people find your images. Include a call-to-action with each image and then link to your latest post in your profile.
Sharing your blog content in Linkedin Groups is a great way to reach working professionals and connect with people in your niche.
By sharing your best content on Linkedin, you can really start to build your authority and reputation as an industry expert – and of course, it’s a great way to connect with other bloggers. Just be sure that the Linkedin Group actually allows people to share content!
Why not turn your blog post into a slideshow and share it on SlideShare? Doing this is a great way to reach a brand new audience with very little effort – and because there’s relatively little competition, it’s easy to get noticed.
All you really need to do is use software like PowerPoint to make a short slideshow that summarizes the key points from your blog post. Of course, you can also link to the full blog post where people can go to get more information.
StumbleUpon is a popular social bookmarking network that helps people discover new content on the web.
By adding your content to the network, you can reach new audiences and drive valuable additional traffic to your blog posts. Essentially, all you have to do is submit your post and include a description and a few relevant hashtags.
Of course, not every post will be picked up by a lot of users, but sometimes you can hit the “jackpot” and see a flood of traffic coming to your site from StumbleUpon.
Reddit is a popular website where community members can share, discuss and vote on content found on the web.
Sharing your articles on Reddit can help you to drive HUGE amounts of traffic to your blog in a very short timeframe, but just be aware that Reddit is extremely picky about the content it allows, so make sure you only submit your very best quality content.
To get started with Reddit, find a sub-forum relevant to the piece of content you want to promote and then submit your article there. Remember: think quality!
Triberr is an online community where you can connect with other bloggers and content creators by joining “tribes” based around specific subjects or niches. It’s a great tool for generating traffic to your blog posts and connecting with other like-minded people.
